The Crows

'

Crow s

Raven

Rook - Operates the bookstores and record keeping.

Jackdaw - Small nimble warrior with "beak" blades

Hooded Crow - Powerful mages

Carrion Crow - A crow that deals with undead threats.

Raven Spear - Name of the type of ship they fly.

The crows were created in direct opposition to the Knights. Discreetly delivering items to the city-states. They are not granted the same authority and autonomy that the city-states have granted the Knights. The Crows(The Ravens?) work in the shadows. They enter the massive city-states through other means.

The ancient White Raven god awoke like many other great beings during the fall. None of the crows know his true nature, only that he has an unquenchable desire for messages and secrets. The great white raven blesses intricate bracelets of the different types of crows. Each bracelet grants the wearer abilities of that Crow. They are grated flight and the ability to blend into shadows. The crow's train and train for the right to be bestowed the great gift of the White Raven.

The crows wear special masks that let them see the unseen, the magical. Where the knights are a force of strength, the crows are more of a force against magic and the supernatural.

The crows transport, mystical items, ancient items, messages, secrets, important persons, and what some consider black market items. If you needed to smuggle something into a city-state the crows are the ones to do it. They can navigate the wilds and enter the unseen. They have a vast network in all of the city-states. Usually they operate a bookstore a rook that is also a training facility and base for the crows. They have safe houses and tunnels, and air paths that lead into the city-states.

Dalton the Sage is persona non grata to all crows. He has on many occasions interrupted the delivery of items that are too dark to be in the world.

The crows have talons they use to climb up buildings and use as weapons.

Corrupted heart

The heroes make their way farther into the spaceship. Takam senses the darkness corrupting the ground below her. The corrupted heart is a collapsed dwarf star from an ancient nebula. Floating in space until a pre-fall ship encounters the heart. They take it aboard and it slowly starts driving the crew insane. The ship remains floating until the fall. Where the chaos energy pulls the ship to the planet crashing into the forest. Since then the heart has been corrupting the land. Trying to spread its darkness deep to the core of the planet. The heroes are attacked by metal terminator-looking robots that are protecting the heart.

Luna light is on the ship. She has been holding the darkness at bay. Slowly growing insane. Member of a crew still in the stasis pod. She has been absorbing the dark energy of the Star much like the moon absorbs the energy from the sun. Granting her the power of moonlight travel and moonlight blasts. Part of her story

Or the moon has been granting her the power to protect the world. The moon sensed the great evil of the corrupted heart and saw within Evelyn Stone a hero. Through a crack in the spaceship, the moon showered its light into Evelyn creating LunarLight. She has been using all her power to contain the Star but her power is weakening and now the evil is corrupting and why the heroes learn of the spaceship.

Rai and Di Superhero or Supervillan?

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1PZbB3W_7NKvBTiguC_6-KHbE3B_l_hz6

Rai (Ray) and Di (Dee)

The Centurion Reactor is at the heart of the NovoVoronezh Citystate.  A massive Nuclear power plant spanning miles of the city center. A shining light in the middle of a frozen wasteland. The citizens of NovoVoronezh have discovered that the Centurion Reactor is not all that they believe. In fact the street dwellers spread rumors that the reactor is in fact a giant from the stars whose body is made of heavy elements and is slumbering waiting to be awoken.  The heroes and villains of this citystate due seem to develop powers related to the heavier elements such as Rai and Di.

Did a giant from the stars grant them powers? Were there dark experiments run on them in the depths of the reactor? Rai and Di will not say. What the citizens of Novoronezh know is they better not get in their way.

Welcome to the Storm of the World.

Before the Fall.
The world began and aged much like others in the cosmos. One thing that may shock you is what society considered myths and legends are in fact real. Dragons, monsters, heroes, villains, and magic all existed through the ages of man, hidden from the masses of course, but shaping the very direction of history. Due mostly to powerful beings, immortals, and other forces, civilization had advanced to a level that solar system space travel was common. The rocky inner planets could be reached within a matter of weeks. Travel to the gas giants took several months but rumors of massive ships and unusual phenomenon kept the expeditions small.

The Fall.
From below and above a calamity struck the planet. Mighty forests sprung up destroying towns and cities. Spaceships fell from the sky creating vast wastelands. Mighty dragons rose from the mountains feeding and setting fire creating massive ruins. Humans retreated to the remaining cities, only a handful across the entire planet survived the calamities. The myths and legends of old were no longer hiding but running rampant and in great numbers. The cities erected massive walls keeping out the horrors that were emerging from the wilds. Giant creatures could be seen walking among the mountains. The sky once full of planes, now deadly predators hunting their next meal.

After the Fall.
The cities became city-states. Forming their own governments and militaries to defend what was left of civilization. A world organization known as the Knight Corps was created. Massive caravans traverse the wilds connecting the various city-states, protected by the Knights. Still, any travel is rife with peril. The cities are the only beacons left in a violent world. Their Heroes the only break in the storm.

Tatsu - The Stormbringer

The Stormbringer Travels through storms to help individuals. He can travel anywhere as long as the rain is coming down. He can use a special bamboo poles that only grow in a deep forest in one of the most dangerous of the wilds. Takam the Hidden Protector has been able to grow a few in her garden.

Tatsu has been spending most of his time in New Thunderbird the Desert City of Storm of the World investigating the threat of the Dark Sun Cult.

The Soil of Foleigon

The Soil of Foleigon

A soil from ages long forgotten, to most.  Takam remembers.  The soil grew in what was called Foleigon Pass, and was the only soil that could grow the Yolec root.  The Yolec root can [ ].  She’d already obtained the seed, now she just needed the soil.  After years of searching, deal-making, and threatening, she found the last known sample in the Lyndin Group’s labs.

Page 1

Panel 1:

Exterior.  Takam is surrounded by high-rise buildings; crowds and street traffic close in on her.  Her hands are on over her ears.

Takam (thought):  I’ve been in the city too long.  I need to get out of here.  I’m so close now… Stay focused.

Panel 2:

Exterior.  One tree in the middle of a sidewalk.

Takam:  Talk to me.  Why can’t I hear you?  I need …

Tree (whisper): Level 4, B5.  Tap ..  twice

Takam:  Thank you, friend.  I know that was hard.

Panel 3:

Parking garage.  Level 4, B5.  Tapping twice

Panel 4:

Pillar slides open to reveal an elevator.  Takam gets in.

Panel 1:

Elevator opens onto a laboratory- clinical feel.  Empty lobby with hallways.

Takam: Hrm, should have made a plan.  This human impulsiveness is awesome!  Well, just pick a direction and go!

Panel 2:

Walking down a long hallway. Doors marked on both sides.

Takam:    I thought I’d feel it, I thought it would speak to me.  Why can’t I hear…

Panel 3:

A door opens and a female scientist with a lab coat runs right into Takam

Scientist: Ooof

Takam:  Ouch!

Panel 4:

The scientist recognizes something strange about Takam- footsteps approach

Scientist:  who, what, get out of here.  You can’t be here. You don’t know what you’re doing.  They already know..

Panel 5:

Takam pulls the scientist into the room and slams the door.  The soil is on a table with a laser firing at it

Takam: I knew I felt it, as soon as you opened the door.  What is this?  What are you doing??

Scientist:  I … I

Takam:  turn it off, I’m taking this.  Hurry!

Page 3

Panel 1:

Takam reaches for the sample while the scientist pushes buttons on a panel.

Panel 2:

The scientist blocks the door.

Scientist: I only shut the beam off because you’d have killed yourself- you can’t leave

Takam: Incorrect.  I’m leaving, now.

Scientist:  They’ll kill me

Panel 3:

Takam (sigh): Come with me, there’s no time

Scientist: I can’t, they’ll kill me

Takam:  I won’t let that happen

Scientist:  Can you fix this?

Panel 4:

Scientist reveals a tattoo on her forearm

Scientist: If I leave, this kills me.  If you take the sample, they kill me.

Takam: Why’d you have to be a human?

Dalton the Sage

The Sage concepts

In the city of Alleron, located along the northern coast, down in the city center amidst towering skyscrapers and historic buildings, there lies an average looking bookstore filled with un-average objects. The proprietor of this bookstore is a man in his early 30s, dressed in light grey pants and a dark grey undershirt. He is a man who can at best only sleep an hour a night. His mind runs faster than anyone he has ever met. The constant search of knowledge, knowledge of the world now and knowledge of the world as it was before the fall is the only thing that has kept his sanity. That and a love for recovering lost tomes from the wastes outside the CityStates that even the Knight Corps fear to enter. His exploits and vast collection have earned him the name "The Sage." His outward demeanor, however, renders this nickname as more of an insult. Though his mind works faster than most, his mouth rarely catches up. Coupled with his youthful appearance, even though he has been awake more hours than someone twice his age, most discount him as aloof and cocky. Those that have needed his help or traveled with him into the wastes know that he is anything but.

The rain as it does many nights beats down outside, the open sign hangs in the window. A knock on the glass raises Dalton the Sage from a tome titled "El de Dron Basilick of the Desert."

A familiar but unwanted face stared through the glass. Steward. A name passed down from generation to generation. The bloodline of the Stewards, forever bound to be the trusted advisor, chronicler, and manservant to The Last Eternal.

"If he only knew the truth behind his beloved Eternal and the danger he possed, he would be his jailer, instead of his butler." Dalton thought as he closed his book and rose from his leather chair.

Steward's hand pressed against the glass door seeing Dalton a smile of relief crossed his face. As he moved his hand toward the handle it slipped and the door swung open violently. The wind and rain poured into the store and Steward fell down into a heap at the doors entrance. Dalton rushed to his side rolling him over gently, Stewart was badly injured.

"Sorry, Dalton but we are out of options, a monster or maybe some kind of ghost is loose in the city park. We couldn't stop it."

"Tell me." Dalton said as he helped Steward to the couch.

"We were driving back through the city proper. Returning from the deep wastes. We had found an ancient weapon. To all accounts, it looked as if the weapon was inoperable, empty. We were wrong." Steward coughed as he talked. Dalton rushed to behind the counter and brought out his first aid kit. Along with some vials containing brightly colored healing elixirs.

Steward continued his story, "An entity made up of nothing but mist rose from the weapon. Nothing we did had any effect. The Eternal's weapons went straight through it as if nothing was there. It only became solid for an instant when it lashed out at us. Our vehicle was destroyed. The Eternal bade me to find you as he chased the creature into Monument Park."

More Hidden Protector Rough Sketches

Spent some more time with The Hidden Protector.

I am thinking she has a more a martial art fighting style to her. When she sheds her coat it is to increase her range of motion and for her magic to run freely down her arms into the ground to cast spells like entangle.

Still not happy with the fact that I can't consistently draw the same thing, like faces, but some of these didn't turn out so bad.

More Knight Corp stuff

Knight Corp  Defend and Relief efforts only.  The City-States granted the knight corps access to operate within their walls. The catch is their mandate is only to defend and provide relief efforts. Therefore their weaponry and tactics are designed around these two pillars.

Knights primarily use shields and their gauntlet ropes. They also carry many stunning type weapons or nonedged weapons.

One particular service the knights provide is armored trains that travel in the wilds between city-states. A cool aspect of the trains is that knights ride on the top of the train with their gauntlet ropes tethering them to the train and their shields at the ready.

The knight's pilot one-man fighter jets that resemble a cross between an f-14 and a dragon. The dragon can land upright where the nose and the upper section bend over looking like a perched dragon. The wings also wrap around protecting the ship.

More About the Jupiter Solider

The Jupiter Soldier has eyewear that analyzes the abilities, powers and gear of an individual.

When he looks at Stormbringer,(or Stormrider) the readouts all come back inconclusive.

A scene involving the Jupiter Soldier.
He lands in the main city for the Knight Corps. All of the Knights Corp are called into the fight. The battle is decidedly one sided as the Jupiter Solider easily swats down everything the Knights throw at him.

Conor Wardell (or Ward) is one of the last knights standing, as heroes do. Earlier he sent word to Stormbringer to get Blue from the desert city and bring him to the main city. As Jupiter is marching down the street with downed dragon ships wrecked and on fire, Conor is using every trick and device to halt his forward movement. When Conor is nearly beaten a few rain drops hit the street in front of him. Conor starts to chuckle through the blood and pain. Jupiter Solider picks him up and confused by the chuckle demands to know what amuses Conor.

Jupiter Soldier: Your forces are in ruin. You have no hope in defeating me. What could possibly amuse you about this?

Conor holds out his open hand as more rain drops fall.

Conor: A storm is coming and he brought a friend.

The Jupiter soldier tosses Conor across the street into a building. Standing in front of him is Tatsu and Blue. Jupiter's readout is scanning Tatsu coming back with inconclusive readings. Jupiter's attention is focused on the mystery of Tatsu. All the while ignoring Blue. Blue is powering up and just as the power spike registers on Jupiter's readout he turns his head just as Blue blasts an enormous amount of energy at him sending him hundreds of feet back. Shattering his display, and damaging his armor.

More on the Hidden Protector

Takam
Dammari
Dammar
Teshi
Treshi Dammaria

Maybe she is a female tree spirit now. Haven't decided. For now, let us say she is a woman.

The Hidden Protector's powers are a combination of Vision and Poison Ivy, with lots of mysticism thrown in. Communication is her biggest power. Her ability to sense others/objects/life/evil through different means is a big part of the stories she is in. She can put her hand on a tree trunk and sense through the roots, the earth, things that are nearby. She can send and receives messages on the wind. When a great evil enters the forest near her she can sense it because of shifts in the energy around her. She also has a limited ability to manipulate energy around her. She can harden the energy around her planting herself like a tree and having increased strength to hold something or block something. She is immovable in that state. She can go incorporeal and hide from all manner of beast. She can summon roots and entangle a creature or person.

She also knows a great many spells and has one of the highest level mystics in the world. However, she only focuses on and uses nature type spells and is loathe to even discuss other spheres of magic. Her magical ability usually focuses on a hacky sack that she carries around. The hacky sack is full of magical materials that she can teach others to make to use in magical spells.

She lives in the wilds and will often act as a guide or a savior to any who foolishly wander too deep into the great forest wilds.

If you are close enough to her you can see that her veins are like tree limbs. Which gives away that she is not human.

One of her main stories involves her fighting with a city-state that is carpet bombing the forest wilds. They believe they are clearing a safe path for there people, but in action, they are angering the creatures in the wilds making things worse. The hidden protector is forced to fight both sides.

A scene from a crashed Spaceship Dungeon

WORK IN PROGRESS (like anything on this blog is ready for mass consumption.)

Setup:
Four heroes from the Storm of the World travel deep into The Wilds to investigate a crashed spaceship from before The Fall.

Background:

The Last Eternal, Eideard Archelaus and Steward visit The Hidden Protector, Takam Dammar at his home. Eideard convinces Takam to guide them to the crashed spaceship deep in the wilds. Takam has been hearing from the trees and creatures that a strange energy is emanating from that area. Concerned that there is a deeper spirit mystery at hand, Takam sends a message on the wind to StormBringer, Tatsu, to meet them in the forest.

They find the ship completely buried into the ground save for a hatch that leads to the cargo bay.
Upon entering the cargo bay the ship systems come alive and a device normally used for towing spaceships into the hold attacks the heroes.

As The Hidden Protector, Stormbringer, The Last Eternal, and Steward walked hesitantly around the device that just shot the deadly toe cables at them, they find the cargo doors that lead them deeper into the ship. The doors are locked and require an access code to open. Steward reaches into his pack and retrieves his hacking tools.

Scene:

Steward is kneeling down next to the sealed cargo doors with wires coming out of the door panel. He has a small device that he is using to hack the controls. Eideard is standing over him overseeing the hack and glancing around for more traps.

Takam walking along the room running her hand along the smooth metal walls says, "Before The Fall metal birds like this used to choke the skies."

Steward, glances at Eideard with a look of puzzlement. A slight grin comes across Eideard's face. Eideard raises his head towards Takam and asks.

"Takam how old are you?"

Takam responds with barely a reaction."Older than you, Archelaus."

Steward shocked at the mention of The Eternal's given name whispers, "Eternal, that can't be true. You have walked this world for centuries. You are the last of the Eternals, this woman cannot be like you."

"There is life on this planet older than me, and not all of it is human." Eideard responds.

Takam turns her head glancing towards Eideard obviously hearing the conversation. Takam's eyes narrow with disapproval. Eideard acknowledges Takam with a nod realizing that in a battle of secrets Takam might know more about him then he would care for the world to know. Still Eideard's suspicion that Takam is somehow connected to an ancient tree spirit or in fact is an ancient tree spirit in human guise seems to be the most logical explanation.

With that Eideard looks down at Steward's befuddled expression, raises an eyebrow and taps on Stewards hacking device. "Now focus, the mystery of the Hidden Protector can wait for another day."

Steward looks towards Takam and wonders what lies beneath this plain woman who has decided to live and commune with nature out here alone in The Wilds. A woman who so far has shown no combat skills but believes she can hear voices on the wind and who deftly led them through the dense forest to this crashed ship as if he was being guided by the very trees.  Steward looks back at his digital screen, it indicates that the door's power output has reached more than triple.

At that moment the feedback from the extra power shorted the locking mechanism causing the giant cargo doors to open. A whoosh of stale wind blew engulfs the heroes. Eideard and Steward shield their eyes. StormBringer stands strong facing the wind. His rain hat raised so that his entire face can be seen. His eyes wide with unease. Upon that wind StormBringer senses a powerful energy. An energy that has the taint of something unworldly, something with great malice. As the wind passes Tatsu collects his thoughts and pulls his brim way down low.

Takam noticing the unease of Tatsu stretches out his senses deep into the halls of the ship trying to hear from any vines or roots that may have made their way inside.

The Last Eternal and Steward

Steward - Old English stīweard, from stig (probably in the sense ‘house, hall’) + weard ‘ward.’ The verb dates from the early 17th century. a person responsible for supplies of food to a college, club, or other institution.

So Eideard Archelaus, The Last Eternal, is immortal. He has been alive since before medieval times. During the time of the great architects.  He also survived "the fall" and was instrumental in setting up the city states and founding the Knight Corps. At the time of the founding the Knight Corps was mainly an aide organization, and just like the Templar Knights it became more powerful, more militaristic, and as with all things more corrupt as time passed. Eideard disillusioned with the Knight Corps holds disdain for anyone he meets from the organization.

No one knows what Eideard has done to save humanity. Everyone who meets him thinks he is just a Wasteland hunter (a relic hunter of the Wild's) The Knight's that come across him believe he is making things worst by disturbing the wilds and he is against order. Heaven help any Knight that tries to arrest him for a Disorder charge.

Eideard is always accompanied by a person from the Steward family bloodline. Since the age of exploration the family of Steward as pledged their undying loyalty to Eideard and presented the Last Eternal with a ward to be responsible for following Eideard around carrying his supplies, learning about and writing down about this legendary figure. The writings of all the Stewards are part of a collection known as the Eternal Chronicles. Many of the chronicles were lost during "the fall".

The most important role of the Steward is to be his moral compass. Eideard views the world differently as any immortal would and sometimes that can lead to destruction. Eideard caused a great calamity during the age of exploration, Eideard eventually managed to stop the calamity and saved a kingdom, but the calamity killed all but two of the noble Steward family. The Steward family saw Eideard as a hero and a force of great positive change in the world and devoted their lives and the lives of their descendants to him.

The guilt of what Eideard did to the Steward family still weighs heavily on him till this day. He is forever great-full of the reminder and the traveling companion that the Steward provides. His greatest weakness is therefore the Steward and the Steward family. If a villain were to ever try to get through the Last Eternal through a Steward the world may see another calamity.

Dalton, The Sage, has uncovered stories of Eideard, through the ages and Dalton even has a few of the lost tomes of the Eternal Chronicles in his collection. Dalton and Eideard disagree very strongly on their methods, but each respects the other's knowledge. And when things are bad they will call on each other to help.

Conor Wardell, a gauntlet knight, of the Knight Corps, is slowly discovering that Eideard is the founder of the Knight Corps through hidden records. His search is intensified when the "great betrayal" happens. Eideard will reluctantly help Conor restore the Knights even though part of Eideard believes the Knights deserve what has befallen them.

Crashed spaceships in the wilds.

More about the wilds in the Storm of the World. Before "the fall" technology had advanced to the level of solar system space travel. The rocky inner planets can be reached within a matter of weeks, however travel to the gas giants takes several months and only small expeditions were ever tried. (Need to develop how contact with the race of Jupiter Soilder was handled) ((also may need to change the name as I am not sure I want my planet to be Earth))
After "the fall" the spaceships and space stations in orbit of the planet fell to the earth. Many of the spaceships were scattered into pieces around the globe. Where some of the larger ones survived intact and now are hidden in the wild. They exist as dungeons full of alien and A.I. type threats.
One of the other rocky planets in the solar system contained alien life that developed biotechnology.

Dark Sun Warriors

In my created universe "Storm of the World" here is some ideas that came to me in the middle of the night.

The dark sun warriors wear a blend of desert brown ponchos and high tech white metal. Also the smoke stacks and exhaust pipes are prominent in their outfits as well as their buildings. Mad max meets metal gear.

The wall around the citystates have massive canons with 2 barrels sticking out . The walls are a thick curvish future concrete wall.

The "blue knights" are like the templar knights and have worked out agreements with the city states where they provide some of their technology and the blue knights are given a base in each city state and funding to continue to protect people and escort people out in the wilderness.
They also have way stations on roads between cities that they man and protect.

The event that caused the dark times and the rise of the city states I am going to call "the Fall"  Basically its the fall of the Roman Empire that lead to medieval society. So in my world the event that took back the earth and caused the people to come together in the city castles is "the Fall." Probably would help if I figured out what that is exactly.
