WORK IN PROGRESS (like anything on this blog is ready for mass consumption.)
Setup:
Four heroes from the Storm of the World travel deep into The Wilds to investigate a crashed spaceship from before The Fall.
Background:
The Last Eternal, Eideard Archelaus and Steward visit The Hidden Protector, Takam Dammar at his home. Eideard convinces Takam to guide them to the crashed spaceship deep in the wilds. Takam has been hearing from the trees and creatures that a strange energy is emanating from that area. Concerned that there is a deeper spirit mystery at hand, Takam sends a message on the wind to StormBringer, Tatsu, to meet them in the forest.
They find the ship completely buried into the ground save for a hatch that leads to the cargo bay.
Upon entering the cargo bay the ship systems come alive and a device normally used for towing spaceships into the hold attacks the heroes.
As The Hidden Protector, Stormbringer, The Last Eternal, and Steward walked hesitantly around the device that just shot the deadly toe cables at them, they find the cargo doors that lead them deeper into the ship. The doors are locked and require an access code to open. Steward reaches into his pack and retrieves his hacking tools.
Scene:
Steward is kneeling down next to the sealed cargo doors with wires coming out of the door panel. He has a small device that he is using to hack the controls. Eideard is standing over him overseeing the hack and glancing around for more traps.
Takam walking along the room running her hand along the smooth metal walls says, "Before The Fall metal birds like this used to choke the skies."
Steward, glances at Eideard with a look of puzzlement. A slight grin comes across Eideard's face. Eideard raises his head towards Takam and asks.
"Takam how old are you?"
Takam responds with barely a reaction."Older than you, Archelaus."
Steward shocked at the mention of The Eternal's given name whispers, "Eternal, that can't be true. You have walked this world for centuries. You are the last of the Eternals, this woman cannot be like you."
"There is life on this planet older than me, and not all of it is human." Eideard responds.
Takam turns her head glancing towards Eideard obviously hearing the conversation. Takam's eyes narrow with disapproval. Eideard acknowledges Takam with a nod realizing that in a battle of secrets Takam might know more about him then he would care for the world to know. Still Eideard's suspicion that Takam is somehow connected to an ancient tree spirit or in fact is an ancient tree spirit in human guise seems to be the most logical explanation.
With that Eideard looks down at Steward's befuddled expression, raises an eyebrow and taps on Stewards hacking device. "Now focus, the mystery of the Hidden Protector can wait for another day."
Steward looks towards Takam and wonders what lies beneath this plain woman who has decided to live and commune with nature out here alone in The Wilds. A woman who so far has shown no combat skills but believes she can hear voices on the wind and who deftly led them through the dense forest to this crashed ship as if he was being guided by the very trees. Steward looks back at his digital screen, it indicates that the door's power output has reached more than triple.
At that moment the feedback from the extra power shorted the locking mechanism causing the giant cargo doors to open. A whoosh of stale wind blew engulfs the heroes. Eideard and Steward shield their eyes. StormBringer stands strong facing the wind. His rain hat raised so that his entire face can be seen. His eyes wide with unease. Upon that wind StormBringer senses a powerful energy. An energy that has the taint of something unworldly, something with great malice. As the wind passes Tatsu collects his thoughts and pulls his brim way down low.
Takam noticing the unease of Tatsu stretches out his senses deep into the halls of the ship trying to hear from any vines or roots that may have made their way inside.
