The Last Eternal and Steward

Steward - Old English stīweard, from stig (probably in the sense ‘house, hall’) + weard ‘ward.’ The verb dates from the early 17th century. a person responsible for supplies of food to a college, club, or other institution.

So Eideard Archelaus, The Last Eternal, is immortal. He has been alive since before medieval times. During the time of the great architects.  He also survived "the fall" and was instrumental in setting up the city states and founding the Knight Corps. At the time of the founding the Knight Corps was mainly an aide organization, and just like the Templar Knights it became more powerful, more militaristic, and as with all things more corrupt as time passed. Eideard disillusioned with the Knight Corps holds disdain for anyone he meets from the organization.

No one knows what Eideard has done to save humanity. Everyone who meets him thinks he is just a Wasteland hunter (a relic hunter of the Wild's) The Knight's that come across him believe he is making things worst by disturbing the wilds and he is against order. Heaven help any Knight that tries to arrest him for a Disorder charge.

Eideard is always accompanied by a person from the Steward family bloodline. Since the age of exploration the family of Steward as pledged their undying loyalty to Eideard and presented the Last Eternal with a ward to be responsible for following Eideard around carrying his supplies, learning about and writing down about this legendary figure. The writings of all the Stewards are part of a collection known as the Eternal Chronicles. Many of the chronicles were lost during "the fall".

The most important role of the Steward is to be his moral compass. Eideard views the world differently as any immortal would and sometimes that can lead to destruction. Eideard caused a great calamity during the age of exploration, Eideard eventually managed to stop the calamity and saved a kingdom, but the calamity killed all but two of the noble Steward family. The Steward family saw Eideard as a hero and a force of great positive change in the world and devoted their lives and the lives of their descendants to him.

The guilt of what Eideard did to the Steward family still weighs heavily on him till this day. He is forever great-full of the reminder and the traveling companion that the Steward provides. His greatest weakness is therefore the Steward and the Steward family. If a villain were to ever try to get through the Last Eternal through a Steward the world may see another calamity.

Dalton, The Sage, has uncovered stories of Eideard, through the ages and Dalton even has a few of the lost tomes of the Eternal Chronicles in his collection. Dalton and Eideard disagree very strongly on their methods, but each respects the other's knowledge. And when things are bad they will call on each other to help.

Conor Wardell, a gauntlet knight, of the Knight Corps, is slowly discovering that Eideard is the founder of the Knight Corps through hidden records. His search is intensified when the "great betrayal" happens. Eideard will reluctantly help Conor restore the Knights even though part of Eideard believes the Knights deserve what has befallen them.
